Our
church services are quite informal, and we hope that people are comfortable
when worshipping with us

The main service
each week is at 11:00am and is the best attended
- The church is usually
open from about 10:30 and you will be greeted at the door and given
a hymn book.
- Our organist plays some
music whilst people are arriving.
- Services can be very different
week by week. Sometimes the services will be taken by a church Minister
(Reverend) and at other times by a lay person (A Methodist Local Preacher).
- After an introduction
and welcome, there may be an introit, someone singinging or playing
a hymn or song.
- The leader will the recite
some words from the Bible and we will stand and sing a hymn (we normally
stand to sing).
- Hymns are normally chosen
from either Hymns and Psalms (Methodist hymn book) of Songs of Fellowship
- a modern worship book.
- At the end of the hymn
we sit for a prayer (We don't kneel for prayer).
- Often there will be an
informal talk for the children.
- A collection will be taken
for the work of the church
- Passages will be read
from the Bible, the Old Testament and the New testament.
- The leader will talk about
one of the Bible readings (the sermon) this could be ten to fifteen
minutes long.
- Other hymns will be sung
- Prayers will be said for
others (prayers of intercession).
- Finally a hymn will be
sung followed by a special prayer of blessing called the Grace.
By
sharing in so much of what goes on the congregation takes an active
part and we feel that we have shared fellowship with each other and
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our
service normally lasts about an hour and coffee is served in the church
lounge, after the morning service
The
evening service is normally smaller and held in the church lounge.
On
special occasions and family all age worship anything can happen!
Twice each
month, once in the morning and once in the evening, the sacrement of
Holy Communion is celebrated. We have an 'open table' which means that
you don't have to be a member of our church - or any church - to take
part, just honestly seeking our Lord Jesus. Those not wishing to take
part may come forward for a blessing.
